We are excited here at the Calliope - Presence in Media offices about the launch of Preserve.us. This is the debut of a lifestyle site, similar to GOOP from Paltrow, but from an actress we find fascinating- Blake Lively. Any woman that can snag Ryan Reynolds after he was married to Scarlett Johansson is a goddess, her style is impeccable, and her relentless efforts to remain private make us even more exited to get a "insiders view" of this mysterious woman. Preserve.us is going to give us a look at items, people, stories, essays and videos that the actress finds of value. Some of the goods/ items will be expensive and others will be more cost effective. Ultimately, Preserve will serve as a curated collection of Lively's lifestyle and worldview, which is most certainly something we are going to be eager to read more about.
I am hungry, though... not just for enchiladas.
I'm hungry for experience.
Um, yes! Us too! I know some people say that Anna Kendrick is the "Spirit Animal" of the millennial generation.
but I have to believe that more often than not, we feel like this:
I'm comfortable with the knowledge that I'm not a teacher, but rather, a student. I don't do any one thing perfectly. I do a lot of things though. Some well, some not-so-well [....] I've found that when approached with a curious spirit, people are kind, they’re generous, they answer, if asked. They'll often open their doors and hearts and let you in. Because people with wisdom have stories to tell, and want them heard.
Really? How perfect is that?! One of our favorite mantras when we get overwhelmed is the reminder that Calliope - Presence in Media is about being "passionately curious". There is comfort and peace in knowing that it is OK to NOT know everything. We are blessed with the ability and the experience in researching inquiries and finding answers. We are comforted in the reality that learning is never complete. Each of our projects serve as another opportunity to learn, to research, to adapt our set knowledge base to another industry and another clients "voice". Few things give us more pleasure and joy than it is to learn and make a clients project successful.
All of this is not to say that we are shy about saying that we "feel" or "think" something is right for a client... it is simply that being an "expert" is a bit on the 'overly presumptuous' side to us. We know TONS about design, copy, social media and websites but we will never know everything on any one subject. It is unwise to think that one could ever reach that amount of knowledge base on any subject. (With one exception of course; those boasting PhD's in a specified field are welcome to use a general- blanket- knowledge- term anytime they deem necessary haha) We, however prefer to approach life, projects, and jobs with the curious and humble spirit that Lively references above.
For all of these reasons and more we will be watching Preserve.us closely; for inspiration, motivation, and confirmation that curiousness is a virtue.
